Thank you for being a part of co-creation at the Edge & Node House of Web3 – before we get into the nitty gritty of the rules of the space, there are two important guidelines that will help everyone in the community thrive:
1. Be kind
2. Be helpful to others
With that, here are the House of Web3 Rules:
The house rules apply to all community members, guests, event attendees, invitees, and all others who enter the Edge & Node House of Web3. Breaking any rules will result in the immediate request to permanently vacate the space and a loss of access rights, nullifying any and all previous agreements. We reserve the right to refuse entry and/or suspend access permanently for any reason, and in our sole and absolute discretion.
**Registration**
Once you have been invited to the House of Web3, you must register in person and check in at the House of Web3 front desk. According to our policies, community members may be required to show a valid, government-issued photo ID and/or perform additional required steps. The House of Web3 utilizes Andcards for check-in, room reservations (when available), and updates to the house rules.
**Guests**
Community members are allowed up to 2 visitor guests at one time. However, please be aware that if the space is nearing capacity, we reserve the right to limit community members and guest access to certain areas of the building. In addition, guests of a community member may only enter the House of Web3 with the simultaneous physical presence of the community member. Within the House of Web3, community members must accompany their visitors and need to vacate the space upon departure of the community member. Community members must also ensure their visitors abide by all House of Web3 rules and policies. If a guest of a community member breaks the house rules, the community member risks having their membership suspended or terminated.
**Career Change**
If you change companies after the time of joining the Edge & Node House of Web3, you must notify the House of Web3 crew of that career change. If you go from one company to another or if you were full time and no longer full time, please let us know.
**Children**
House of Web3 is intended for adults only. While we love children of all ages, only individuals 21 years or older may be guests in the space. Exceptions may be made for certain special workshops, lectures, and speaking engagements targeted specifically for younger audiences.
**Attire**
House of Web3 promotes a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. So feel free to come as you are, but please keep it professional (in other words, shirts and shoes are required).
**Privacy**
Be respectful of other people's privacy and personal space: no photos, videos, or recordings of anyone in the space without their explicit consent. Community membership may be revoked at any time if there is a reported violation of another community member’s privacy.
**Solicitation**
Community members and their guests are not permitted to solicit anyone at the House of Web3.
**Liability of House of Web3**
Any personal property brought into or left unattended in House of Web3 is done solely at the risk of the community member or their guests.
No items are permitted to be left or stored at House of Web3 at any time. Guests and community members are responsible for any damages made to the space.
**Conscious Consumption**
The House of Web3 will provide locally brewed coffee and eco-friendly FLO water. We ask that guests bring their own refillable water bottles to fill. If snacks or drinks are available in the space, please have conscious consumption (limited to ~1 per person).
**Food & Beverage**
We welcome you to bring your own food and beverage into the space. Please be conscious not to spill or make a mess. Be considerate of food with a strong odor and be respectful of all others utilizing the space. There is outdoor seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. Other food options within the Presidio square include a Mexican restaurant, grab-and-go snacks at the Disney Museum (limited hours) and Presidio’s Visitor Center, and Presidio Bowl. At times there may be food trucks (not affiliated with Edge & Node) in the Presidio Square. We are also extremely close to Chestnut and Union Street in the Presidio. Regardless of whether you bring in your own food and beverages or enjoy beverages and snacks available in the space, please clean up after yourself and leave the space better than you found it.
**Recycling, Composting & Trash (SF Ordinance)**
Community members and guests must dispose of all recyclables, compostables, and trash in their corresponding bins. We encourage using recyclable and compostable items at the House of Web3 as a conscious environmental effort in compliance with San Francisco's Refuse ordinance.
**Cell Phones Etiquette**
All community members and guests are prohibited from taking or making phone calls in main public rooms, and phones should be on silent mode to preserve the casual atmosphere in the House of Web3. However, in certain areas of the House of Web3, texting and making calls are permitted and you’ll see signage in these zones. Please ensure that your guests adhere to our phone policy.
**Internet**
Users of the House of Web3 wireless internet and/or the House of Web3 community member Network are required to keep their computers, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic equipment (a) up to date with the most recent software updates provided by the software vendor and (b) free of any malware, viruses, spyware, worms, Trojan horses, or anything else that is intended to carry out harmful, hostile, and/or intrusive operations. Until the threat is eliminated, we have the right to remove any device from our networks that could endanger our users or our networks.
**Photos/Videos**
While within the House of Web3, please be considerate while using cameras, video, or other recording equipment—whether utilized for live streaming or not, whether on a mobile device or another device—and if there are community members or guests in photos or video, obtain explicit approval from House of Web3 management. Community members are also accountable for ensuring their visitors follow this regulation. The House of Web3 reserves the right to take possession of and confiscate any videos or other recorded images used or taken while on House of Web3 premises that were not approved by those who were being photographed or filmed.
Please do not take photos or videos in the space, including of other visitors, community members, or guests. Privacy must be respected. You are allowed to take photos or videos of yourself or the space and of others with their explicit consent.
**Audio/Video Playback**
All audio, including presentations, internet calls, music, movies, and videos, must be played through headphones and should not be audible to any other party or visitor present. Internet calls are only permitted in private locations, as stated above under Cell Phone Etiquette.
**Smoking**
The House of Web3's smoking policy and all applicable no-smoking laws, rules, and regulations must be followed by all community members and guests. No smoking of any kind, including vaping and e-cigarettes, is permitted within the House of Web3 at any time.
The House of Web3 maintains the right to designate specific outdoor locations as smoking zones and to relocate these places at any moment. However, it is expected that all community members and guests will respect the preferences of other members and guests regarding smoking and will stop when asked.
**Press/Social Media**
You are welcome to take photos of the space for social media so long as no individuals are in the pictures without their explicit consent. There is a strict no-press rule in the House of Web3 unless approved by the Edge & Node team beforehand. Community members shall be held responsible if they or their visitors reveal or identify any other community members or guests who are present in the House of Web3 in the media or on social media, such as (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and personal blogs without their consent.
**Hours of Operation**
Standard operating hours of House of Web3 are 8:30 AM - 7 PM PST, Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 AM - 5 PM PST. We ask that all community members, team members, and guests please abide by these timeframes and exit the building by 5 PM or 7 PM PST. There may be private or public events offered in the evening hours. If any community member has an invitation to such an event, they may come back during event hours of operation.
**Confidentiality**
The management of House of Web3 and every employee are obligated to uphold the highest standards of secrecy and agree to keep all records and private information about community members and their guests strictly confidential. Therefore, if you overhear any information, please keep that information confidential.
**Illegal Drugs**
The purchase, use, ingestion, possession, sale, or other distribution of illegal drugs or other substances, or the attempt to do so with other community members or guests, is prohibited. While on the House of Web3 premises or in its immediate area, no community member or guest may request illegal drugs or other substances from any House of Web3 staff members. If any of the aforementioned behaviors are shown to be accurate, the offending community member will be asked to permanently leave the space.
When on or near the premises of the space, neither a community member nor a guest may buy, sell, use, or possess anything that is forbidden or offensive. If such items are discovered, they will be seized, and the relevant membership terminated, and, depending on the circumstances, we may have to call the police or appropriate authorities.
**Private Events & Maintenance**
We have the right to deny access to community members and their guests to all or portions of the House of Web3 for private events or essential upkeep, repair, or remodeling.
Please respect the privacy of all private events held in the space where we block off a portion of the property for them and abstain from disclosing any details about them to third parties through any means. When the entire or a portion of the House of Web3 is closed for upkeep, repair, or improvements, or when we have to remove facilities or services because we believe they could endanger the health or safety of our community members, guests, or staff, or that they would be detrimental to the operation of the business, we will try to make sure that any community member who may have been affected are informed.
**House of Web3 Productions**
We might ask you to share your experience at the House of Web3 as a community member or guest. To promote our programs, as well as for advertising, public relations, and other commercial or business purposes, we may also film, video, or photograph the events and activities of our community members. If you participate in these events or interviews, you consent to our use of your name, likeness, and possibly other limited information. Additionally, you agree that we may publish any content created by or for us for any reason without additional permission from you and that you renounce any claim to compensation from us for such publication.
**Accidents/Injury**
Please notify a staff community member as soon as possible and, in any case, within 24 hours if a guest or community member is injured due to an accident at the House of Web3. This information is required for insurance purposes, to help us comply with our health and safety requirements.
**Disciplinary Action**
A community member or guest's behavior detrimental to Edge & Node's House of Web3 reputation and character may lead to suspension or expulsion. Such conduct may include acting inappropriately, violently, or abusively, as well as sharing information with the media about Edge & Node or House of Web3 concerns, community members or their guests presence in the House of Web3. We will not accept an expelled community member as a visitor.
Expulsion and/or suspension or termination of access may be imposed on any members who knowingly remove, damage, or destroy any property belonging to the House of Web3 to other community members or guests on the premises of the House of Web3.
Upon being accepted as a community member, each member agrees to always comply with the rules, bylaws, and regulations of the House of Web3. If the House of Web3 determines, in its sole discretion, that any community member or guests behavior inside or outside of the House of Web3 premises is against the interests of House of Web3, it may immediately expel that community member or guest from the House premises and/or suspend or terminate that membership without providing that community member or guest with a reason.
**Discrimination & Harassment**
House of Web3 forbids discrimination and/or harassment against anyone on our property, including employees, members, vendors, and visitors, due to that person's gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil status, pregnancy (or conditions related to pregnancy), gender identity or expression, transgender status or gender reassignment, race, color, national origin or ancestry, citizenship, religion or religious beliefs, age, physical or mental disability, or any other characteristic. Contact a community member of the House of Web3 management to report a violation, and they will take the necessary corrective action to address the behavior, up to and including denying the offending member, vendor, or visitor access to the House of Web3.
At the House of Web3 you must treat every individual as you would want to be treated regardless of politics, nationality, or race.
The House of Web3 is not the place for disruptive protests.
**Values and Mission**
At House of Web3, all community members and their guests must be kind, warm, and welcoming to others in the space. No gossip, speaking badly, or ill will towards any other individual is permissible. All community members and guests must work together in peace and harmony for the progress and mastery of the web3 migration free of undue influence.
Entering or Leaving the Space
We request that all community members and guests keep quiet when approaching or exiting the House of Web3 property and while in the surrounding area.
**Animals**
Animals are not permitted on the premises. When it comes to service animals that are duly authorized and certified, paperwork must be shown to permit entry. That being said, if a service animal is aggressive (growling, snarling, biting, etc), barking, or disrupting guests in any way, the service dog and its owner will be asked to leave.
**Interpretation of the Rules**
The House of Web3 management will make the last and final decision about our community in the event of any disagreement regarding the meaning or interpretation of these guidelines. Each community member agrees to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts, and these rules shall be governed by and construed in conformity with United States law.
**Amendment of the House of Web3 House Rules**
